Newton Abbot Labour's May Election Campaign kicked off in Dawlish, was in Newton Abbot last Saturday and is in Teignmouth 11.00 - 14.30 next Saturday.

Thanks to Carol Alderton, Terry & Marilyn Bannon, Doug Bruce, Moira Devlin, Tim Goodwin, Jane Haden, Keith Johnson, Gill King, James Osben, Pete Smith & Fran Taylor for giving their time to man the stalls.

We met so many constituents and often it is the same worrying issues coming up time and time again. Money spent on "vanity projects" whilst our roads fall into disrepair. The decline in the state of our towns and villages due to lack of funding. Poor transport links etc. The lack of investment in our local infrastructure and services is impacting on lives across the constituency. We have sent letters to our Conservative MP, Anne Marie Morris, local businesses and council officials on our constituents behalf in an attempt to get answers and solutions to the problems and issues we all face. We will continue to be out listening to voters and letting them know Labour is here for them at a whole host of events across the constituency in the coming months.

As well as listening to our constituents we are campaigning for change. There is only so much we can achieve through letter writing. We need Labour coucellors in seats where they can make a real difference. Our county council is responsible for education, social care, transport, the environment and much more. If we are serious about holding the Tory's to account and opposing their destructive policies then we need to get Labour representation on the county council. Currently we hold none of the county council seats in our constituency. We need to change that. The majority of our seats now have Labour members standing for them but there are still some we need candidates for. If you can stand your application would be very welcome.

If standing as a candidate isn't for you then join us canvassing and campaigning. If your new to this we can offer you support and training. Canvassing is one of the most effective things you can do to bring about change. It's not going to be easy in our constituency, we are going to need all hands on deck. Please spare some time and come and help us. Keep an eye on our events pages on this website and our Facebook pages and volunteer when you can, either for a specific event near you or sign up for Fran's (Campaign Co-ordinator) mailing list on admin@newtonabbotlabour.org.uk
